Z.B. Collie Foundation
A tax-exempt organization recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
Formed in 2012, the Z.B. Collie Foundation provides an integrated approach to helping individuals who, as a result of either economic or intellectual / developmental circumstances, lack the availability to (at all levels) experience educational enrichment or workforce development / employment opportunities. We accomplish this mission by focusing our efforts on two programs.
Scholarship Program
To encourage pursuit of higher education, the Foundation provides academic scholarships for high achieving middle and high school students to attend residential summer camps and programs on a university campus in a wide range of topics, including arts, music, science, and engineering. This program furthers our exempt purpose as it provides deserving students with financial resources to help them pursue continuing education beyond the middle and high school level.
Blue Collie Coffee Shop
Recognizing that workforce opportunities for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are limited in our geographic area, the Foundation opened Blue Collie Coffee. The Blue Collie Coffee program provides workforce training and employment opportunities for adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Blue Collie Coffee serves as a site for high school students with disabilities to complete work training required for graduation in the occupational course of study program. Blue Collie Coffee operates in a manner to be self-sustaining, with profits supplementing and increasing opportunities in the scholarship program.
